Like Gold -A Poem on Pain And Triumph

I have known pain
I have known fear

Fear chilling than the harmattan air

Pain, fiercer and harsher than the whips of a thousand horsemen
My soul sank deep into the river of pain and fear
I sought refuge in the bosom of the younger dawns
I hid in their embrace and they comforted me
I dreamt of the rebirth of her garden in all its glory
I felt the healing miracle of the morning sun

When Eva bathed in her warmth;

And I saw her inhabitants
came alive with the songs of the birds, and fluttering flowers in the breeze

I have known pain;
Nameless, faceless fear
I sunk deep into their depths
And they hurt no more

Like Gold, A poem on pain and triumph over life challenges.

I bow in awe of You
King of kings
Who was
Is
And will always be
From generation to generation
To the end of time
Your mercy endures
Your love found me
Out of the depth of the stream
My soul sought Your face
Your words- Your desire
In those waiting on Your mercy
I employed in my cry for help
Your strong arms
Delivered my soul
Your wings of protection
Shielded me from tempest
Your mighty voice
Calmed the raging storm
And satisfied my soul
With immeasurable peace
You stripped me of my sack cloth
And clothed me with joy
You are true and just
Merciful and gracious
I bow in awe of You
Ancient of days
You are who they say You are
You are the Lord

I Believe

I am waiting for a crack

in the shell of the sky,

announcing the birth of a new world;

free from sorrow, pain and prejudice

where man and beast

walk side by side

like when dawns were young.

I believe in a world

where children are children

singing and dancing in the rain

freeing the body of all limitations

and not a fear to the mothers hearts

I dream of a world

where law is devoid of less

where the haves and have nots share same law

where no one is judged by race, class or color

where humanity is a joint robe for all.

I pray for a world,

where we only smile for joy

not as a mask for hurts, betrayal or disappointments

where our ugly hearts are not cloaked

with flowing robes or colourful attire

A world

where friends justify the meaning of friendship

And family reigns above all

Still, I believe.

He Reigns

              (NaPoWriMo 14 Day 18)
Let all people with gladness sing
With joy for His glorious reign
Christ the King lives, His praises ring
Let all the people with gladness sing
The empty tomb, His victory bring
The guards at the tomb watched in vain
Let all  people with gladness sing
With joy for His glorious reign

A Reminder

    (NaPoWriMo14 Day 16)
The black blue sky breaks light
As each star appears
Winking and twinkling
To the rhythm of the night
The clouds swiftly moved
Giving way to the rising moon
Each in her heavenly beauty
Each to her earthly duty
A reminder of the first night
When he ordered the light to be
Only man ceased to be
What He intended him to be

A Token for Good

(NaPoWriMo14 Day 14)
A little supplication from my mouth to His ears for this special day
Life might hurl all sorts of things at you today
Stuffs that make you want to curse the day
Stuffs you accept without a sigh all day
Just keep holding on through the day
Never let go today
Never complain about the day
Choice will befriend you someday
Your eyes will live to see the day
God will grant you a token for good one day

A Day of Rest

Rest my brow
Time to unwrinkle your furrow
Another glorious day of the King is here
Offer thankful hymn to His presence here
This is not to linger
Or your worries to stay longer
Rest, oh seat of thoughts
Release unto Him all your cares
Rest my soul, embrace His balm
Let the fingers remain calm
Today is another day of bliss
Let all souls enjoy this moment of peace

Whisper

image
Who am I?
That He would think of me
A wretched sinner
A dog, always returning to his vomit
Yet He loves me so
Knows me more than I do
Even when I knew Him not
Cares for me when I sought Him not
Hiding me under His mighty wings
Shielding me from every storm of life
Listening patiently when in prayer I bow
Working still even when I lost hope
One more favour I ask of you this hour
I know your rest is this day
I need you more than I ever do today
Like you did in those days
Remould and remake me oh Lord
For You are the greatest Potter

His Hands

image
‘He has deserted us,’ they cried
Nothing to rely on safe their belief
The sound of their cries went up to Him
Like the fragrance of their daily offerings
In the fullness of time, out came His hands
Working great signs and wonders in their oppressors’ land
The parted sea, the biggest of many miracles
Swallowed the horsemen along with their horses and chariots ever
Vomitted the children of covenant onto the way
To the promised land, never more to wander

Dust

Clay and water
Sieved and pounded
Moulded and shaped of His hands
Why do you then boast?
Of these riches and wealth?
They were here before you
And here they will be
When you are no more
Of wisdom and knowledge
Acquired and will be required
When you are no more
Your beautiful skin –
Nothing but boasting dust
Simply dust, safe that first breath
Giving in love, and with love
If there be any boast
Let it be of His second to none
