20 Awesome Quotes For Fathers’ Day Celebration

Fathers’ day: This year’s fathers’ day celebration is today, June 20. This is the day we celebrate and honour fathers or fatherhood. Here we reflect on the roles of the father in a child’s life, in the home, and most importantly the society at large.

History of Fathers’ Day:

Although if we think about it deeply, it would seem that mothers’ day or mothers have taken over everyone’s heart and that we don’t give much thought to fathers and their importance in our lives, in the home. But celebrating fatherhood has been around for a while.

Fathers’ day was first proposed by Sonora Dodd in 1909. She was brought up by her dad who singlehandedly raised her and her siblings after her mother died during childbirth.

When Ellen, Sonora’s mother died in 1898, she left William her husband with 6 kids including a newborn. Her father assumed the roles of both mother and father.

Although celebrating fatherhood was inaugurated in the early 20th century to complement Mothers’ Day in the United States. However, it didn’t have much popularity initially and eventually faded into obscurity. In 1930, Dodd started promoting the celebration again. And this time she had help. Although, it wasn’t easy, but she persisted and thus the celebration of fatherhood was born.

And still alive till today. So in celebration of fathers’ day, I am also contributing my quota by putting together these awesome quotes to appreciate all the great fathers out there.
